WHAT IS ATHLETIC THERAPY

Athletic Therapy is a specialized field within sports medicine that focuses on mitigating the risks of injuries, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries. 

Athletic Therapists are healthcare professionals that use a variety of techniques and modalities, including manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, machine based modalities, and sport/work specific training strategies to help individuals recover from injuries as comprehensively as possible.

Coming into my third year of this program, graduation has become more and more within my reach. I can feel the rush of excitement, but the reality of the what comes next feeling also starts to set in. Thanks to the help of my mentors, I’ve become more motivated than ever to put all of my effort into discovering new areas of interest and working towards solidifying where my career will take me post-graduation. I’ve learnt that there are many avenues involved with being an Athletic Therapist. 


The important part isn’t knowing what exact route I will take, but enjoying the experiences that led me there and continuing to follow the passion that led me to discovering this program. 

WHAT IS THE MENTAL HEALTH CONTINUUM MODEL?

The mental health continuum model is a framework used to understand and describe the full spectrum of mental health functioning. 

This model classifies individuals into different categories based on their levels of mental health, ranging from optimal functioning to when to reach out to someone who specializes in mental health well being. 

It recognizes that mental health is not binary, and that people can move back and forth along the continuum throughout their lives. 

The goal of the model is to help individuals identify their current level of mental health and provide guidance on how to improve it if necessary.
